Some of WikiAnswers' most active and trusted contributors become Supervisors. These individuals are given additional Super Powers to perform an array of higher-level edits. Supervisors are able to merge questions together, block vandals, and spin off discussion posts into questions, and are equipped with a variety of other special abilities and functions to use at their discretion. Becoming a Supervisor does not require a minimum amount of work, but does require that the tools be used responsibly.
We currently have two types of Supervisors: Category Supervisors and Floating Supervisors. Category Supervisors oversee one or more categories of interest. Often, those employed (or hobbyists) in a certain field will choose to become a Category-specific Supervisor. This gives them the advantage of really recognizing answers that need work, as they are familiar with the lingo and concepts.
A Floating Supervisor, on the other hand, has all of the same tools as a Category Supervisor, without the responsibilities of overseeing a certain area of the site. This is a more open-ended way to get started. It's ideal for those without a lot of time, but who still want to contribute with more high-powered tools when they visit the site.
If you'd like, you can request a Mentor to help guide you in your first experiences as a Supervisor. Read more about the Supervisor Mentoring Program.
Would you like to be a Supervisor?
Because Supervisors have so much power we need to make sure they understand how WikiAnswers works. These are the simple requirements:
- Ask at least three questions.
(You can ask anything, whether or not you know the answer.) - Contribute at least 10 answers or improvements to answers.
- Make at least 15 assorted edits, e.g. improving questions, moving them, adding related questions and links, etc.
(This might sound like a lot but it's actually the easiest and quickest item on this list.)
When you have met the requirements and are ready to take the next step, email WikiAnswers @ Answers.com (remove spaces). Make sure to include your interest in becoming either a Category or Floating Supervisor and provide your User ID. We'll do a quick review of your previous contributions and contact you ASAP.
