Depending on the model some 1998 models have glow plugs like a diesel engine you may want to look into that before you waste time and money on spark plugs.

On the 4 cy. engine, the spark plugs are accessible from the top of your engine. There is a face plate on the top of the engine held on with four screws, pull this plate off and you'll see the plugs. This confused me for a while too, as I was looking on the front and rear sides of the engine.
