What is the origin ethnicity andor country of origin of the surname Gragg?

[Edit]

Answer

I am a grandchild of a Ganeles. The family is from the Pale of Russia and we think it is Hebrew for Garden of God ('Gan' means garden and 'el' denotes God.

I have recently been told that A Candian geneticist suggested that Ganelis (alternative spelling) was a matriarchal surname. Ganeles (our spelling) he said was derived from the woman's name Hannah which has the guttural "CH" sound in Hebrew. Supposedly when people with the guttural sounds in their name came to the US, it was often given a hard "G' instead. "Le" is a common Yiddish suffix as in (no offense) buble which would be an endearment. Ganeles simply means the children of Chana. In fact some people named Chaneles suggest that we are related to them. They retained the guttural "Ch" spelling.
