What is the meaning of a ankle bracelet on the left or right ankle? In: Shopping, Clothing [Edit categories] |

Answer
I'm in my 40s and have always worn an ankle chain/bracelet. (No not as in jail - the chain is the same as a necklace but usually 11 inches or so). I have no proof of this theory but was told the same thing. Once I married I switched to wearning the anklette on my right for about two days. I had been wearing it on the left since I was a child, so I found I couldn't bear to have it on my right. I would think this is a very outdated "rule" and you should go with what's comfortable. Sorry I can't come up with an origin for this practice, but I am curious too. Be well.
Answer
Ankle braclet? As in jail?
If I remember well enough, it was originally for slaves. *Nodnod* If it started with actual slaves or sex slaves I can't say.
Answer
Someone once told me, that if you wear one on your right ankle it means youre taken or married, but if you wear it on your left ankle, it means youre single. Dont know if people really take notice of that anymore though :P
If worn on the left ankle it means your taken or married (ex: wedding ring side) on the right side means your single. Personally it doesn't matter to me, I'm married and wear mine on my right ankle. I just think it looks better!
