What is the correct grade of oil for a 1998 2.4L malibu?

[Edit]

Answer

More than likely 10w30. Check your owners manual or call a Chevy dealer to be sure. Sometimes it is written on the oil cap.

The factory specifies 5w30..in cold climates it helps the oil to flow better. In warm or hot weather 10w30 is acceptable..but under NO conditions should the 2.4 engine use any thicker oil..thicker would be 10w40.. 20w50 etc.
