America had excellent ties with Saudi Arabia, but we have been demonized in the middle east for our interference first with toppling the Iranian government and then protecting against the potential threat of Hussein invading Saudi Arabia after he was done with Kuwait. Now, we risk losing our foothold in Saudi Arabia so it is only natural that we go for the third largest oil reserve in the world, Iraq. Saudi Arabia has the largest reserve and our new "enemy", Iran has the second largest reserve.
