How do you replace the headlight bulb located on a Chevy Malibu? In: Chevy Malibu |
[Edit] |
Answer
1999 3.1L model. On each side there is a flat shroud roughly 9 inches long held in place by one screw with a rather large washer. Remove this screw and turn the shroud out of the way. Beneath you will see two tabs per fixture with semi-circles towards the front of the vehicle. Lift these tabs straight up off the two spheres per tab. The headlamp fixture will come away suspended by the wiring. There are two fasteners holding in the sockets however it is possible to remove the bulbs without disturbing these fasteners. Simply turn the sockets anti-clockwise to separate one from the other. Do not touch the glass portion of the bulbs, new or used with your bare hands. They could explode or you will make the bulb inoperable. Usually the low beam and high beam bulbs differ and one will not fit the other's socket. When purchasing be sure to match carefully.
Hope this helps.
