How do you change the waterpump on a 97 Chevy Malibu?

[Edit]

Answer

Is this a 3.1L or 3.4L engine? If so it's the easiest to replace water pump ever made.

1-Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2-Drain the radiator.
3-Loosen the four bolts on the water pump pulley with a 8mm socket.
4-Use a 3/8 drive ratchet to loosen the belt tensioner, then remove the belt.
5-Remove the water pump pulley bolts and pulley.
6-Remove the five bolts (8 mm head) and water pump.
7-Clean off the old gasket material.
8-Put a GM Cooling system supplemental sealer pellet in the opening.
9-Reassemble in reverse order using new pump and gasket.
10-Use a vacuum type fill tool to fill the system with Dex-Cool. Compressed air is required to operate the tool, but other fill methods can damage cylinder heads so get the tool.

You are finished. This took about 10 minutes.
