Does the US need to take an active role in stopping global warming? |
[Edit] |
That would be mighty difficult. "Global warming", or more accurately, "global temperature change" has been the normal state of the earth since the beginning. The earth has gone through periodic temperature changes on many occasions, but recently temperature change has become a political issue.
<><><>
George Bush calls "Global warming" "Global temperature change" to make it sound less important so he keeps getting money from polluting companies! The Earth sometimes changed temperature before, but greenhouse gasses are the #1 cause of it now!

Unfortunately, the United States is currently unable to control the occurrence of sunspots and other solar activity, which are the predominant cause of the earth's cooling and warming cycles.
The "global temperature change" also has been observed on Mars, with the shrinking of the polar ice caps. There is a lot of junk science out there that claims that the climate change is caused by what we're doing, other claims are that no, it's cyclical, and still others point out that a single volcanic eruption ends up spewing more CO2 than all of the automobiles ever manufactured.
This last winter was the coldest for a long time, and yet China and other countries are using far more hydrocarbon based fuels which result in even more CO2 in the atmosphere. If the CO2 were the problem one would expect the temperature to be going up even more.
To really understand the issue, one must look at the LONG TERM temperature of the earth. We have been in a "mini" ice-age for quite a while, and any change in the temperature of the earth is far more likely to be caused by periodic changes in the Sun's output.
But what we are seeing is a political effort to redistribute wealth. If the "global warming" theorists are able to get their way they can force the US and other industrialized nations into third world status. Some even like that idea.

They really need to help because they are contributing 47% of the CO2 and gasses that are ruining the ozone layer.

YES, I THINK THAT THE U.S. SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING. MANY COUNTRIES OVER THE WORLD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT BUT THE U.S. HAS NOT, UNFORTUNATELY.

Yes, The U.S. and China need to help stop climate change and global warming. The U.S. and China are already the largest country polluters in the world so something needs to be done.
